Announcing the Teens in Tech Incubator!

January 13, 2011 by Daniel Brusilovsky

Over the past few months, the Teens in Tech Networks team has been hard at work on something that no one has attempted before today — an incubator dedicated to teenage entrepreneurs. Over the almost three years that Teens in Tech Networks has been around, we've tried to provide as many tools and resources to young entrepreneurs and give them every reason to start the next Google, Facebook, Twitter, Zynga, and the list goes on.

Today is that day, and we're extremely excited to be part of that revolution.

As part of that, we're announcing the Teens in Tech Incubator program, a summer program exclusively for teen entrepreneurs. The idea is simple — provide the tools and resources so that these young entrepreneurs can build their startup, and succeed.

For the first summer batch, we will take on five teams, and provide them with mentorship through some amazing mentors and advisors, office space, and all the other things that startups need.

Now we won't just take any five teams — our standards are quite high, and we expect all of our teams to take the program seriously. In order to qualify, you must be between the ages of 14 and 19, as well as have a technical co-founder or other member on your team. Single founder teams will still be considered, but you have a better chance of being accepted if you have a co-founder or two.

We believe that we can help build and foster the next generation of entrepreneurs, by teaching them the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Further, our research and conferences have shown that these skills, insights and networking opportunities are neither being taught nor are they present in traditional classrooms. We are going to help bridge that divide.

The application process opens today, and we encourage anyone with even an idea to apply. We hope that in the eight weeks that we will be together, you'll not only learn what it means to be part of a startup, but you'll also launch a product and continue on in your journey as an entrepreneur.
